Mitchell Homes - Custom Plan

Mitchell Homes reached out for a fully custom design for a prospective client building in Cape Charles, VA. The homeowners had a strong vision for their exterior elevation and overall footprint, and my task was to create a luxury coastal plan that matched their inspiration, met the ARC’s architectural guidelines, and incorporated the interior features they wanted.

The final design is a 4,000+ square‑foot, three‑story home featuring 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and an open‑concept living room, kitchen, and dining area on the second floor with views overlooking the golf course. The third floor includes a private primary suite, offering a quiet retreat with elevated coastal charm.

The property also includes a detached two‑car garage with a studio apartment above, adding flexible space for guests, hobbies, or future rental potential.

This custom plan blends luxury, function, and thoughtful coastal design—perfectly tailored to the client’s vision and the character of Cape Charles.

Covenant Building & Design - Spring 2023 Richmond Homearama Show Home

For this showcase home, Covenant Building & Design came with a specific elevation they were excited to bring to life. My role was to develop a fully customized interior layout that supported the flow, function, and luxury expected in a Homearama build.

The final plan features 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, an open‑concept kitchen, dining, and great room, a dedicated study, an upstairs loft, and a thoughtfully designed luxury laundry room. Every space was planned with intention — balancing the builder’s vision with practical, family‑friendly living and a layout that feels cohesive, comfortable, and beautifully connected to the home’s exterior design.

South River Custom Homes - Custom Plan

South River Custom Homes reached out with a unique challenge: their client loved two very different home plans and couldn’t decide which direction to take. After a thoughtful consultation, we narrowed their choices down to the two designs that best fit their needs — one with an exterior they adored, and another with an interior layout that offered the flow and function they were looking for. My job was to blend the best of both into a truly custom home plan.

The final design features 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, an open‑concept kitchen and great room, a dedicated study on the first floor, with a private office, loft, and bonus room on the second floor. This plan also includes a separate structure intended for a future mother-in-law connected to the main house by a breezeway, which makes this plan perfect for multi-generational living.

Jameson Construction - Custom Detached Garage

Jameson Construction partnered with me to design a 24' x 28' detached garage with a versatile bonus room above. The plan includes two 8' overhead doors, a convenient pedestrian entry, and an interior stairwell leading to the upper-level space. This structure adds practical everyday functionality with the flexibility for storage, hobbies, or future expansion — all while complementing the existing property beautifully.

Jameson Construction - Semi-Custom Small Home Plan

Jameson Construction asked me to create a semi‑custom plan for a client seeking a smaller, efficient home. Using a 1½‑story design they loved as the starting point, I refined the layout to better fit their needs.

The finished plan offers 1,566 square feet with two first‑floor bedrooms and baths, an open kitchen, dining, and great room, and a spacious laundry room. A loft overlooking the main living areas adds charm and flexible space on the second floor.

This design blends comfort, simplicity, and thoughtful flow — perfect for homeowners who want a smaller footprint without sacrificing livability.

Deck Extension & Screened Porch Design

This client needed plans to extend their existing deck into a larger outdoor space that would connect seamlessly to their pool, with a screened‑in porch added for comfortable year‑round living. I designed a foundation and framing system that allowed the new deck to meet the pool edge safely without compromising the integrity of the existing pool structure.

By working closely with the contractors, we created a solution that delivered the function and flow the client envisioned while protecting the pool’s foundation. The result is a spacious, practical, and inviting outdoor living area built to last.

Our Home - The Chesdin - A Lake Front Designs Signature Plan

In 2021, I designed our personal family home — built by Mitchell Homes — which later became The Chesdin, a Lake Front Designs signature plan. This design was created with intention, flexibility, and room for our family to grow.

The first floor features a primary suite, two additional bedrooms, 1.5 baths, an open kitchen, dining, and living area, a spacious laundry room, a dedicated mudroom, and a playroom designed for everyday family life.

Upstairs, the plan includes an additional bedroom and full bath, a loft, sitting area, office, and an unfinished storage room above the 1.5‑car garage — giving us space to expand as our needs change.

The Chesdin blends comfort, practicality, and thoughtful flow, making it a welcoming and adaptable home for families in any season of life.
